Ultrasound examinations
Abdomen (abdominal sonography)
Ultrasound examinations of the abdomen are performed with:
• Hypertension, for the examination of the kidneys and main arteries
• Kidney stones
• Gall bladder disease
• Liver and pancreas disease
The shape, size and conspicuous findings of, for example, the liver, kidneys, urinary bladder, prostate or gall bladder are examined.
Thyroid (thyroid sonography)
Thyroid sonography is performed when a hyperfunction or hypofunction of the thyroid is suspected and for the examination of goitre. The ultrasound examination assesses the size, shape, and position of the thyroid, as well as the formation of cysts and nodules.
Heart (echocardiography)
The ultrasound examination of the heart is performed, for example, for:
• Heart Attacks
• Cardiac insufficiency
• Valvular heart disease
• Myocardial inflammation
Particularly the size of the heart, the myocardial wall thickness and the heart pumping capacity are examined.
